It's Disc Golf Season!
Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter; Anytime is Disc Golf Season!
That’s right, the disc golf course is always open to the public. If
you’re willing to face the elements, the course is available to you.
It is not lighted but some have even found a way to play night disc
golf.
Whitehall Township’s disc golf course is currently 18 holes, but we
have 9 additional holes under construction and will end up with a 27
hole course with 2 practice tees. All of the work on the course has
been/is being done by volunteers and the Township is justifiably
proud of the quality of its course. Originally designed by a disc
golf pro, from Detroit, the course has had National Recognition due
to its layout covering 40 acres of wooded property. The original 18
holes all have cement approaches (the only course in the area with
that feature). It is used by several leagues and is usually quite
busy. During the summer, several tournaments are hosted at the site,
including the Harvest Moon Classic sponsored by the Friends of
Whitehall Township and held in conjunction with the White Lake
Fallfest. (Contact Brian Mulnix @ (231)893-1657 for details on how to enter).
The course is located on Lorensen Road (near the power lines)
between Holton Whitehall Road and Crystal Lake Road. The easiest
route is to take the Colby Street exit off of the US-31 Expressway
and go east on Holton Whitehall Road. Lorensen is just east of the
Consumer’s Cement Company.
Use of the course is absolutely free. We do expect you to respect
the environment and to keep it trash free. A port-a-potty is
available during warm weather but there is no water source. You do
not need to be a Township Resident to enjoy the disc golf course or
any of the Township’s Parks.
