On Saturday, August 8, 2009 the Whitehall Township Board rededicated the Bi-Centennial Park to honor David and Arlene Johnson. The official name of the park is now the David and Arlene Johnson Bi-Centennial Park. In making the dedication township treasurer June Lydens said, “The park is the most visible of all the properties owned by the Township and that is the reason it was chosen for this new sign.” David Johnson was selected as supervisor in 1969 and served in that capacity for 31 years and then served 8 more as a trustee. Arlene served by his side during that period as deputy supervisor and deputy assessor. They retired from their active role in the township in 2008 and reside at their home on Benston Road.
